FIJI- CAN do attitude
Fiji is more than sun-kissed beaches, shimmering lagoons, swaying palms, the friendliest people on the planet, and international resorts. It boasts a world class apparel manufacturing base. Fiji has successfully produced iconic brand products for customers in America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe etc. Fiji is set apart from the big boys like China, Bangladesh, India and Vietnam, concentrating on flexibility, quality and smaller runs. The industry offers great products and “CAN DO” attitude including its strong commitment to social and corporate obligations.
Choosing to MAKE IT IN FIJI is about the confidence that is so essential in business. You can be confident you are dealing with suppliers who understand your needs, and the products we deliver will meet or exceed your expectations.
The TCF Council of FIJI
TCF Council of Fiji will once again be sending representation to the upcoming Australia International Sourcing Fair (AISF) to be held on the November 19-21, 2024 at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre in South bank, Victoria Melbourne. It’s been an eagerly awaiting exhibition and FIJI is joining again after the covid period. Fiji is a important regional sourcing hub for Australia, New Zealand and the pacific islands. The industry dates back from 1984 and boosted via incentives in the late 1980s to be a dominate force regionally.
The highly successful ‘Make it in Fiji’ campaign, initiated more than 10 years ago through an AusAID funded support program has truly energized and helped to define a once reeling industry. Emerging from the collaborative effort was an inspired and unified voice promoting Fiji’s many competitive advantages that include Quality Assurance commitments that position Fiji’s elite nation status as a garment manufacturer. Social accountability has always been a Fiji hallmark as has its long-standing ties with the Australian and New Zealand markets that highlight the convenient, accessible and familiar networks long ago established. Additionally, the flexibility of Fiji’s manufacturers to provide shorter, custom runs and the English speaking business operations make premier customer service nearly as famous as the Fiji smile.
Carving Out a Niche for Niches
Quality, quick repones, small runs, and flexibility -Fiji has truly found its own niche….
Fiji’s manufacturers have elevated the art of short, made-to-order runs to a new level. What is impressive is that the much longer runs seen in China or Bangladesh are just as easy to roll out of a factory in Fiji. The engineering and retooling on the fly in the Fiji factories have brought major buyers into Fiji in record numbers and for a simple reason, inventory. Fiji was also remarkable agile during COVID and its business and reliability has a reputable supplier firmly established and proven.
These days distributors and retailers want to hold minimum inventory. They want to respond to consumer demands without the end-of-season clearance bins that can devastate what otherwise might have been a good selling season. The solution is simple, find a source that can produce smaller runs when required and that can respond ultrafast… and that’s always a good environment for the Flyin’ Fijians.
Fiji manufacturers are quite diverse and touch on most areas of garment manufacturing, anything from heavy duty industrial to highly refined professional is produced out of Fiji. As the original niche market areas were secured, others were expanded and recently a focus has been set on entering on the largest markets worldwide… fashion, corporate, uniforms, workwear, ladies, intimates etc.
The TCF Council of Fiji along with the Fiji Government have been active in the promotion and marketing of FIJI and the TCF globally. The industry is supported by the assistance in all forms provided by the FIJI government for the development of premier regional apparel manufacturing hub. Fiji has various current and future trade arrangements, Sparteca, MSG, Picta, Pacer.
Expected to be on hand for the AISF show are: Danam (Fiji) Pte Ltd., Nagsun Apparel Fiji Ltd, United Apparel (fiji) pte Ltd. The TCF Council of Fiji invites all interested parties to stop by its booth F38 at the sourcing fair from November 19th to 21st or to visit its website www.makeitinfiji.com.
We understand that the buyers/ customers have many global sourcing options however FIJI is a truly regional world of apparel sourcing choice, consider “To Make it in Fiji”- A paradise sourcing ….. is the right business decision.
